I ONLY want the digital files please!

So here is the truth, and take it from a professional photographer that has a system in place to deal with file corruption and Hardware failure.

Digital files, USB sticks and Hard drives FAIL!

I was recently doing a photo book of my eldest daughter, who is about to turn 11. It is a 100 page book filled with my most precious memories of her when she was 1-2years old…I know, I’m a little behind in my personal projects! I have always been very diligent with keeping triple backups of my personal photographs - and thank goodness for that because some of the files are now corrupt - scream in horror! Lucky for my backups :)

Print your precious memories if you want to hold on to them and preserve them for your kids! …and if you are going to be stubborn about it, then at least make backups, and hope that you remember to keep the latest photos backed up before that hard drive goes cactus!

Oh, and let’s not forget your thousands upon thousands of photos and videos you have on your trusted mobile device! They need to be stored somewhere other than that magical cloud in the sky…or print them! Print them in a book and let your kids enjoy them. My photographs as a kid is one of the most valuable things I own. If there was ever a fire in my house, they would be one of the first things I would grab.
